About Us

Quincy Street is a church plant that started in December 2002 as a Bible Study and grew into a church. We are a community of people from very diverse backgrounds that desire to love God and love our neighbors as we actively follow the example of Jesus Christ. While we may seem to many to be a mission where others come to serve our community, it is our desire to also be a missional church where we see send help and ministry to others throughout the world. We do not just want to be a missionary receiving church but a missionary sending church!

We are also a community desiring to actively follow Christ with our lives. Therefore, we spend time each week studying God's word and look for ways to apply it to our lives. We invite you to join us as we seek to follow Christ in all we do.

Our Mission

“To develop leaders within the Quincy Street community who passionately follow Christ and live out God’s mercy and justice for the poor.”

Our Values

Transformation - We believe that Christ desires to transform us into new persons
complete in body, mind, and spirit. (Romans 12:1-2)

Family - We encourage families to remain healthy and strong and see to help restore
broken families. We too as a church operate as a family and as one body. When
one suffers, we all suffer, and when one rejoices, we all rejoice. (I Cor. 12)

Indigenous Leadership - We believe that the most effective long-term leaders will
emerge from within the community. These people are in the position to minister
most effectively sine they speak the language and know the culture. (Matt. 10:5-7)

Working Together - We value working together with other churches and organizations in
our communities who share the same mission. (II Cor. 8:13-14)

Justice - We believe that we must be socially aware, responsible followers of Christ on a
local and global level. We desire to help those who cannot help themselves and to
become a voice for the voiceless. (Prov. 31:8-9)

Simplicity - The church is not called to consume resources bet to help people find
identity in Christ. We will strive to lead economically simple lifestyles, focusing
on what we need, not what we want, in order to help those most in need. (I Tim.
6:17-19)

Truth - We believe that when people enter into a relationship with Jesus Christ they will
be set free from sin enabling them to follow in God's path. We rely on the truth of
the Bible as well as God's Holy Spirit to guide us on His righteous path (John
4:24)

Mission - We value God's mission to see and save the lost through proclaiming and
demonstrating the good news of Jesus Christ. (Luke 19:10)

Community - We value having a high level of accountability to each other, to our
neighbors, and to Jesus Christ whom we represent. We understand that God's
church community is local, global, and historical. (Acts. 2:42-47)

Service - We value worshiping God by helping people and society. We seek to put other
people's needs and interests before our own. (Mark 10:45)

Responsibility - As a church community and as individuals we must take responsibility
for our own actions and practice what we preach. While we will commit to loving
one another unconditionally in spite of our faults, we also acknowledge that those
who what to receive help must demonstrate a willingness to change. (John 5:40)

Healing - We recognize that Jesus was focused not only on preaching but also on
healing. We believe that God desires for people to be healed from their
brokenness - whether it is physical, emotional, mental, or relational. (Matt. 9:35)

What We Believe

The Apostle's Creed

We believe in one God, the Father almighty, Marker of heaven and earth, of all that is, seen and unseen. We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, of one Being with the Father. Through him all things were made. For us men and for our salvation he came down from heaven: by the power of the Holy Spirit he became incarnate of the virgin Mary, and was made man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; he suffered death and was buried. On the third day he rose again in accordance with the Scriptures; He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end. We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, with the Father and the Son he is worshipped and glorified. He has spoken through the prophets. We believe in one, holy, catholic, and Apostolic Church. We acknowledge one Baptism for the forgiveness of sins. We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen.
